Excursion to the Paratunka – valley of hot spring, 4 hours

Paratunka is located 60 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the beautiful valley of the Paratunka River. The mild climate in this area, in both summer and winter, offers the visitor a pleasant excursion from Petropavlovsk. There are three groups of thermal springs to choose from: Nizhne-Paratunskiye, Sredne-Paratunskiye and Verkhne-Paratunskiye. One of these natural thermal springs, Nizhne-Paratunskiye is located close to the settlement of Paratunka and is much favored by the local populace.

The temperature of the spring is 35-45 degrees Centigrade, but once went as high as 92 degrees Centigrade. The waters are composed of chloride sulphate natrium siliceous and nitric gases, all of which is highly prized for its curative powers and ability to provide pleasant and relaxing bathing. The area even provides a curative mud from Utinoye Lake. Because of the known curative powers of the thermal springs, several sanatoria have been located here to address problems of the heart and vascular systems, skin, gynecological, urological, joints, bones, nervous system, non-tubercular lung issues and upper respiratory organs.
