Excursion starts in Irkutsk.
First stop is in Taltsy open air museum of wooden architecture on the way to Listvyanka. The exposition of this museum represents history of local dwellers of Siberia - Buryats and Evenks and Cossacks who conquered this land in 1600s. One can see wooden fortress, houses of peasants, church, trafitional yurt, old utensils, instruments, toys.
Arrival in Listvyanka. First stop at the observation area to see famous Shaman Stone in the middle of Angara river outflow. Your guide tells you the legend about mighty Baikal and his daughter Angara fleeing from him to her fiance.
Visiting Baikal Museum with aquariums that will make you acquainted with the history of Lake Baikal studies, its flora and fauna. There are expositions of stuffed birds and animals, samples of bottom sediments and Baikal minerals found during scientific expeditions. During the excursion you will see a film “Planet’s Well” with unique underwater shooting at the maximal depth of Baikal – 1637 m. Various Baikal species live in the aquariums of the museum including seal (nerpa), Artic cisco, Baikal oilfish.
After visiting of Baikal Museum we go for lunch to one of local restaurants (Siberian cuisine).
After lunch we go up by chair lift to Chersky Mountain to see peaks of Khamar-Daban mountain range, Port Baikal settlement, River Angara outflow - the widest in the world, Baikal Astrophysical Observatory, and the boundless Siberian taiga.
Our excursion to Listvianka village will be continued by a walk around Krestovka village where we’ll visit St. Nicolas Church. The guide will tell a nice legend about the construction of the church, we’ll see wooden houses of local people.
In the end of excursion you visit local fish and souvenir market to buy souvenirs and smoked or dried Baikal fish of lake Baikal.
Transfer to Irkutsk or check-in at one of Listvyanka’s hotels.
