The excursion on Circumbaikal Railway is possible on Saturdays and Sundays in winter and every day in summer. In winter the excursion is done on rail bus.
We suggest you two variants of the the Circumbaikal Railway tour:
Classic route (on Thursdays, Saturdays in June, on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays in July - August)
Train departs from Irkutsk Railway Station at 07.46 AM. The train goes to Sludyanka town along Trans Siberian railway with no stops. At 10.30 train departs from Sludyanka and goes along Circumbaikal Railway with 4-5 stops in the most picturesque places. On arrival in Port Baikal settlement you visit the museum of Circumbaikal in the station building. Then you cross the Angara river outlet on a ferry that will take you to Listvyanka settlement. You may stay in Port Baikal or Listvyanka or go by a charter bus to Irkutsk. Arrival in Irkutsk at 20.30-21.30.
Mirror Route (on Fridays, Sundays in June, on Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays in July - August)
The route is presented mirror-like: in the morning you get on a bus in Irkutsk and arrive in Listvyanka settlement at 09.00 - 09.30 . Crossing the Angara river outlet from Listvyanka to Port Baikal on a ferry, where you are awaited by train. Train departs from Port Baikal at 10.30. You`ll arrive in Irkutsk at 20.30-21.30.
During the trip along the Circumbaikal Railway there are several stops of 20 min - 1.5 hours. You will enjoy wonderful views of Lake Baikal on one side and beautiful landscapes of mountains and woods on the other side of a train. You can book lunch or dinner beforehand.
