The Heart of Baikal

Short trip along western rocky shore of Baikal from Olkhon island to Peschanaya Bay which is a popular place at Baikal by its stilt root trees, the amount of sunny days and the beauty of landscapes.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1:  BIG BAIKAL
    Group transfer from Irkutsk to Sakhyurte village (other name MRS, 250 km from Irkutsk) wher the cruise starts.
    13.00 boarding a ship.
    Lunch aboard.
    After passing the Olkhonskie Vorota (Olkhon Gates) strait the ship enters Big Baikal that is the middle basin with maximum depths up to 1400 meters and move to the south along the beautiful west shore of the lake Baikal.
    On the way the ship will make a stop at the white-marble rock Saagan Zaba to see petroglyphs dated back to 2nd thousand BC (if the weather won't be windy).
    Stop in Babushka Bay.
    Arrival in Sennaya bay, the cordon of Pribaikalsky National Park in the evening.
    Dinner aboard. Russian banya on the shore of lake Baikal (extra payment).
    The ship covers the distance of 120 kilometers (8-10 hours) today.
  2. Day 2: FAREWELL TO BAIKAL
    Breakfast aboard. 
    12.00 Arrival in Listvianka village at the source of the Angara river
    The end of the cruise.
