Sacred Sea - lake Baikal

This trip will allow you to discover the capital of Eastern Siberia - Irkutsk, its museums, sights and historical monuments, visit to the Circumbaikal Railway by tourist train which goes along Baikal shore, to see the beauty of Baikal lake admiring picturesque places in Listvianka village and Olkhon Island.

  1. Day 1: IRKUTSK 
     Arrival in Irkutsk. Meet a local guide and transfer to a hotel. City tour of Irkutsk to see wooden houses, churches, Znamensky Monsatery, main streets of Irkutsk, theatres and many other historical sights. After lunch at local restaurant and tasting dishes of Siberian cuisine visit the Decembrist`s museum. Return to a hotel.
  2. Day 2: IRKUTSK – LISTVIANKA village
    Breakfast. Full day excursion in Listvyanka village and surroundings.
    On the way to Listvyanka excursion to Taltsy open-air museum of wooden architecture, situated 23 km from Listvyanka (1,5 - 2 hours).
    On the way back to Listvianka we stop at the view point to see the famous Shaman Rock. Lunch at local restaurant at the shore of the lake, tasting Baikal cuisine. Excursion to Baikal museum to see the flora and the fauna of lake Baikal. Baikal fish and fresh water seals nerpas live here in big aquariums.
    Chairlift to the top of Chersky Mountain.  You can see southern part of lake Baikal, the source of the Angara river and Khamar Daban mountain range from the observation deck. Walking tour to Krestovka village to see Saint Nicolas church. Return to a hotel. Russian banya (supplement service). 
    Breakfast. Transfer to the pier to take the ferry and go to Port Baikal settlement. Arrival at Port Baikal village. Boarding a train, 1 st class carriage. Departure for full day excursion by Circumbaikal railway. During excursion you`ll have 3-4 stops to visit galleries, tunnels, to walk in the forest. Lunch or lunch box will be served in the train.The train always goes on Baikal shore and you`ll admire beautiful landscapes of the lake.
    Arrival in Irkutsk railway station in the evening . Transfer to a hotel.
  4. Day 4: IRKUTSK – OLKHON Island
    Breakfast. Departure by public bus to the Olkhon island – the biggest island of lake Baikal, located 300 km from Irkutsk. Arrival in Khuzhir village. Accommodation at a hotel or a guest house. Dinner and rest. Russian banya (supplement service).
  5. Day 5: Cape KHOBOI
    Breakfast. Departure by UAZ (russian off-road minivan) at the Khoboi cape. Khoboi cape is the northern point of the Olkhon island, it is a very picturesque place where you`ll see a beautiful view on the central part of lake Baikal. If the weather is good you`ll see Ushkany`s islands and peninsula Saint Nose. Pick-nick in the open air. Return to the camp. Dinner and rest. 
  6. Day 6: Rock SHAMANKA
    Breakfast. In the morning excursion to the local Regional museum and the Shamanka Rock – sacred place of buryat people, rest at Saraisky bay where it is possible to swim and take sunbath. Dinner. Russian banya (supplement service).
  7. Day 7: Island OLKHON – IRKUTSK
    Breakfast. Departure by private car or public bus to Irkutsk. Lunch on the way in a cafe. Arrival in Irkutsk. Overnight in a hotel.
  8. Day 8: DEPARTURE
    Breakfast. Transfer to railway station or airport of Irkutsk and departure.
